Marco Polo Cruise Ship.jpg

The 'Marco Polo' is a cruiseship owned by the Global Maritime Group. She was built as an ocean liner in 1965 as Aleksandr Pushkin. From 1991 onwards the shipped sailed as Marco Polo. During dry docking for annual maintenance and repair, Turbo Spares overhauled the turbochargers installed on the auxiliary and main engines, as well as the tender boats.

In November 2016 the M/V Marco Polo went into dry dock for annual inspection, class survey and repair at Damen Shipyard in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Turbo Spares was contacted by Global Maritime Group and took care of overhauling, balancing of the rotors and bearing exchange of the turbocharger for main engines and the auxiliary engines:

  • TPS 52F-32 for diesel generator 1-4, installed on a Wartsila auxiliary engine;
  • VTR 630 for main engine 1-4;
  • KKK K26 for the tender boats.

Also the other vessels of the Global Maritime Group , M/V ASTOR and M/V MAGALAN, were serviced by TurboSpares during dry docking in Vlissingen and Amsterdam for the same overhaul procedure as described here above for the M/V MARCO POLO.
